Who is NARI?

As far back as 1935, during the FDR Administration, NARI
began as NERSICA (North East Roofing, Siding and Insulation
Contractors Association.) When President Eisenhower established
Operation Home Improvement in 1956, a nationwide movement toward
home remodeling began, which emphasized the rehabilitation of
existing housing rather than new construction. The National Home
Improvement Council, or NHIC, was the result.
During
the mid-1960’s NERSICA no longer reflected the needs or goals of
the rapidly emerging remodeling industry and the National
Remodelers Association, or NRA, was the result of this further
evolution.
In 1983 the National Remodelers Association (NRA) and the
National Home Improvement Council merged to create NARI
(National Association of the Remodeling Industry.) Today, 58
chapters nationwide are growing the standards and
professionalism of its burgeoning membership.
Headquartered in Des Plaines, Illinois, NARI continues as the
Voice of the Remodeling Industry, promoting NARI’s core purpose
of advancing and promoting the remodeling industry’s
professionalism, product and vital public purpose
